INTERRELIGIOUS INFORMATION CENTER
founded in 1996
Through research, academic exchanges, educational programs, media outreach, IIC develops projects and activities to enhance greater understanding of faiths and religion in our society. IIC works will all major faith groups.
In addition to the YOM HASHOAH MENORAH PROJECT, IIC has conducted several “RELIGION and MEDIA 2000+” conferences in the Vatican, Columbia University, Jerusalem/Amman, University of South Carolina and the Religion Action Center, Washington, D.C. A meeting on Catholic/Jewish relations was held at the Vatican in October 2007.
IIC has also conducted seven consultations with priests and rabbis on intermarriage; held numerous theological discussions for both clergy and lay people and developed various media programs to advance religion coverage in all media.
We work with The National Council of Churches, U.S. National Conference of Catholic Bishops, Religion Newswriters Association, American Society of Newspaper Editors, Newspaper Association of America, and the religious bodies both congregational and rabbinic of Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Judaism and Muslim organizations, Islamic Society of North America and Muslim Public Affairs Council.
IIC receives support from such organizations as: The New York Times, The Scripps Howard Foundation, Newhouse News Service, The Houston Chronicle, The Los Angeles Times, The Templeton Foundation, The Freedom Forum, Knight-Ridder Foundation, and The Center for Interreligious Understanding and private philanthropists.
